Geologist or geoscientist is a scientist who studies the earth, about its origin, and what it is made up of. Geologist studies about the rocks, gases, and minerals found on the planet. And also how earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, and other natural phenomena have an impact on the earth's surface. A geologist understands earth and its inhabitants and provides useful information for the same. A geologist collects samples of rock and fossils, measures the physical properties of earth or study map & rock formation, and more depending on the geologist degree and specialization.

The most common question that comes into our mind is, where do Geologists work? And how much does a geologist make a year? Well, geology careers in demand because geologists can work for Local and they draw state Govt, Private Industries, Military Branches, Non-Profit Organizations, College and Universities, and Self Employed Consultants and the average annual salary is around $73,218 USD.

One of the geologists' essential tasks is to keep the database updated with the relevant information, which is essential for modelling processes that help in better understanding.

Geologists are trained to understand and learn how the processes and specialized softwares work.

Logging is a field-based activity based on geological drilling. Geologists understand and describe the rocks extracted by drills. To study past environmental changes or accurately record sample locations, logging of volcanic and sedimentary rocks is used.

Rock core logging
It is also known as rock chip logging that is used by mining and exploration companies.

Mud logging
Mud logging is for oil and gas exploration.

Geotechnical logging
It is used to know how strong and weak rocks are. It helps in identifying fractures.

Report Writing
Report writing includes summarizing all the tasks mentioned above. Geologists and geoscientists, who performed all the tasks mentioned earlier, are required to maintain the reports in a concise yet comprehensive manner. Reports can range from short daily site updates to large documents that include several hundred pages, such as drilling progress project reports, Ph.D. dissertations, etc.
