Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is hiring Junior to Intermediate Geotechnical Technologists to join our group in Fort McMurray, AB.

Key Responsibilities

Promote safety culture by ensuring site specific HSE policies and safety standard procedures are adhered to

Monitor geotechnical drilling, instrumentation installations, and core sample collections

Installation various instruments pertaining to slope stability and foundation assessments

Construction monitoring

Instrumentation monitoring

Geotechnical Core logging

Report writing of field and laboratory results

Skills / Qualifications

Geological, Construction or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or similar work experience

Geotechnical Drilling experience, specifically with the installation of geotechnical instruments

Experience working in the Alberta Oil Sands region is an asset

Previous experience minimum 2 years

Flexibility to work a variety of schedules (from 1 week on up to 3 weeks on shift (days / nights))

Good written and verbal English communication skills

Reliable and punctual

Ability to work independently

Ability to follow directions

Willing to do a variety of tasks and able to prioritize

Valid driver’s license and able to provide driving abstract
