Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Geotechnical and Materials Engineer to assist in execution of a wide range of projects related to energy, transportation, industrial/commercial, and government sectors. Exciting work environment including engineering for large projects (>$250k) related to dams, nuclear plants, transportation structures, commercial development, and government services. Role would be based in our Charlotte, North Carolina office. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate should be flexible in assignments, willing to travel periodically, and eager to learn. Technical services work areas include:Focus will be on coordination and engineering for geotechnical and construction materials testing projectsPerforms field exploration, inspection, analysis; provides technical support with supervision of field, laboratory and office staffPerforms field testing; uses geotechnical and civil equipment and instrumentationInterprets data and test results, performs geotechnical calculations, analyzes data with civil/geotechnical software, and assist in drafting reportsPrepares field reports, internal correspondence, sections of formal reportsExecution of field construction responsibilitiesMay supervise subcontractors and/or company employeesFollows company safety standards and site safety standardsContacts vendors; researches literature and regulatory requirements; prepares draft designsConducts engineering or scientific calculations; design work, preliminary analysis, and layout Skills / Qualifications Bachelors degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (Masters in civil preferred)4 to 7 years of related experienceP.E. strongly preferredMust have strong oral/written communication skills and ability to work well in teamsFlexibility to work outside normal business hours as requiredFlexibility to travel for short durations (typically one week or less) in areas requiring airline travelMust be proficient in MS Office Suit (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy *MONEIS* Company Overview Wood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
