Southfield, MI|3.7| ||4 hours ago|Full-time| Education High School Diploma or GED Skills Excel Microsoft Word Driver's License Microsoft Powerpoint AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Deputy Operations Manager for part of our Transportation Operations Center (TOC) practice in Lansing, Michigan. The position will report to the on-site AECOM project leadership team and primarily work at the client facility in Lansing, MI. The candidate will need to be able to successfully execute a wide-range of tasks in a fast-paced environment with ever changing priorities. The appropriately qualified candidate will need to demonstrate an understanding of leadership capabilities within a real-time operations environment. The candidate will concentrate efforts towards service areas of TOC operations, maintenance and system utilization, as needed. The general responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: + As directed, communicates with client managers, operations/project managers and shift supervisors to provide status updates, ascertain needs within the control room operation, and provide solutions to issues. + Supports the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). + Prepares special reports and supports the internal audit program. + Assist in the research and development of presentations, technical memos and studies. + Attend internal and external meetings to represent the Transportation Operations Center. + Actively reviews operational and maintenance activities for accuracy and appropriateness, providing guidance and feedback to staff as needed. + Mentors current staff, and new hires on operational procedures and policies. + Assists operations manager with monitoring contract expenditures and ensures the established budget is not exceeded. + Assist in the development and facilitation of designated initial and recurrent training associated with the control room. + Oversee the development, revision and execution of the project’s safe work plan in conjunction with AECOM staff. + Assume operations leadership role during absences of the operations manager. + Provide rotational Night/Weekend on-call support. + Oversee scheduling of all staff members + Contribute to accurate and timely after-action reports for high-impact incidents. + Assist with special event planning and setup. + Work on special assignments, tasks, reports and presentations. + Effectively supports the recruitment, selection and on-boarding processes for new-hires. + May serve as a control room operator when conditions warrant due to staffing shortage or major event. + Perform other duties as needed by the client and operations manager. Additional responsibilities may include: Front line supervisor who manages individual contributors. Responsible for the overall quality of staff’s work and oversees projects. Has project or task level financial accountability. Typically supervises a headcount of less than 10 people. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Preferred Qualifications + Transportation Operations Center and/or Emergency Operations Center experience + Incident Management (Incident Command System) Knowledge + Must have the ability to work all shifts including: nights, major holidays, weekends, planned/unplanned events + Ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure + Ability to communicate clearly, organize correspondence, convey urgency, document decisions made to project management, and demonstrate ability to professionally communicate with stakeholders regarding operational concerns on roadways. + Ability to efficiently and effectively speak, read and write on operational topics in the English language + Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of self-motivation and resourcefulness + Demonstrated ability to develop operational reports, documents, and business related communications + Demonstrated ability to adhere to a variety of project-specific operational policies and protocols + Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint / Word (intermediate to advanced) + Valid driver’s License in good standing What We Offer When you join AECOM, you become part of a company that is pioneering the future .
